Analysis of planning wood quality of differentspecies in Pinar del Río and Artemisa, Cuba

Abstract
The research was developed with the objective of determining the applicability in the furniture industry from the wood planning characteristics of Pinuscaribaea species MoreletvarCaribaea Barrett and Golfari, Acacia mangiumWilld., GmelinaarboreaRoxb., Samaneasaman (Jacq.) Merril and Eucalyptus saligna in the Agro Forest Enterprise Macurije, Pinar del Rio and Artemisa. The machining tests, the evaluation of defects and classification were performed according to ASTM-D 1666-87. The results obtained show that the species studied have potential to be used in the furniture industry. Among the combinations used, the most adequate resulted for Pinuscaribaea, Gmelinaarborea and Acacia Mangium, the combination number 2 (speed rate 7,32 m*min-1, number of knife 3, cutting angle 300 and cutter-head speed 6200 rpm). On the other hand, for the Eucaliptussaligna and Samaneasaman the most adequate resulted the combination 1 (speed rate 7,32 m*min-1, number of knife 3, cutting angle 200 and cutter-head speed 6200 rpm).
