The “Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences,” published by the Center for Forestry Studies (CEF) and affiliated with the Faculty of Forestry and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Pinar del Río “Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca,” is an electronic, serial publication from the province of Pinar del Río. Its purpose is to meet the need for disseminating scientific information based on the achievements of professionals in the forestry sciences, and it provides an important channel for sharing the experiences of different countries and international institutions.

The objective of the “Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences” is to contribute to the dissemination and promotion of key scientific findings in the forestry field and to the sharing of new knowledge among the Cuban and international scientific communities. Authors can publish editorials, scientific articles, advances in the forestry sector, and forestry education materials. Authors from across the country are welcome to participate, expanding publication opportunities and creating a new channel for knowledge sharing. In this sense, it will cover topics of great interest and relevance in both the national and international contexts.

The Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences has the mission of communicating the research findings of professionals and technicians in the forestry sector in Cuba and other regions of the world, sharing experiences that contribute to sustainable forest development.

The Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences envisions itself as the leading publication for research in the field of forest sciences and related disciplines, achieving visibility and comprehensive coverage of forestry activities and their main advancements.

Following a continuous publication methodology, the Cuban Journal of Forest Sciences will publish a single volume covering the period from January to December (annual frequency). This format will allow for the progressive inclusion of articles throughout the year, maintaining active publication until its December closing. This format will be implemented starting with volume 14, corresponding to the year 2026.

The journal is published in Spanish, and the title and abstract of each article are also presented in English. From volume 7 onward, articles are also published in English, translated from the Spanish. From volume 8 onward, the title and abstract of each article are presented in Portuguese. This journal does not charge any publication fees or subscriptions. It also adheres to the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

The journal supports Open Science and therefore accepts manuscripts from preprint repositories or that promote the placement of research data on data servers, among other methods.
