HOLTZ, GILLETTE PROMOTED AT MBT

MBT International has promoted Alison Gillette to director of marketing. She joined the company in 1986 as an assistant in the Graphic Arts Department and will now be responsible for directing all aspects of the company's marketing. Most recently she was the manager of MBT's Marketing Communications Department.

The company has also promoted Dave Holtz to vice-president of sales. He joined the company in 1998 and will now be responsible for all aspects of the company's sales efforts. He most recently was director of the company's Sales Division.

ZILDJIAN PROMOTES BROLIN IN SALES

Zildjian has promoted Cheryl Brolin to sales operations manager worldwide, a new position. She will be responsible for overseeing customer service and sales support on a global basis.

In 1998 Brolin was promoted to customer service manager North America, following three years as senior export administrator. Her background has been primarily in the export field, having worked a number of years for a medical supply manufacturer.

"Cheryl's broad experience made her the ideal candidate for this new position," said Jerry Donegan, vice-president of sales worldwide.

ALLAN SMALL NEW SELMER DIST. MGR.

Selmer recently appointed Allan Small as its new district manager; he will be located in Glendora, California. He will be responsible for sales of the Selmer, Bach, Ludwig, Musser, Glaesel, and Emerson product lines and accessories in southern California, Arizona, and southern Nevada. His appointment was announced by Thomas T. Burzycki, president of Selmer.

Small, who is a professional trumpeter, has 18 years of experience in the musical instrument industry, including positions as school band director and in instrument sales. He holds a bachelor's degree in music education and a master's degree in education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

MITEK EXPANDS GRAPHIC DEPARTMENT

Joe Andriano is the new senior graphic artist in Mitek's marketing department. Andriano's love of music and his eclectic graphic art background make him ideally suited for the new position. A percussionist, he formerly worked as an associate marketing manager for LP Music Group in Garfield, New Jersey. Andriano also worked as a production and media manager for Virgo Communications, a large advertising agency in Fairfield, New Jersey. In his last position before joining Mitek he was a senior graphic designer for Huntleigh Healthcare of New Jersey.

Mitek's design department has been further strengthened with the hiring of Paul Jagoda as graphic designer for the company's commercial sound products. He will be responsible for designing one- and two-color brochures, flyers, and other printed materials with information about the company's products, events, and people. He also developing advertising for the company's commercial sound products.

Jagoda made his debut in the graphic arts world as an artist for his father's company, Auto Dynamics Corporation, a vendor for General Motors Company.

GUILLAUME TO DIRECT KRAKAUER SALES

Brian Guillaume has been appointed director of sales and marketing at Sales Technologies, Inc. He will be responsible for the sales of Krakauer and Conn pianos in the United States. In that capacity he will direct independent representatives in the ongoing development of a dealership network for both brands.

For the past two years Guillaume has assisted in the reintroduction of the Krakauer and Conn pianos. Prior to that time he was a sales representative for Curtis 1000 and an assistant manager for Kroger Foods. He is a graduate of Ball State University and holds a bachelor of science degree with majors in entrepreneurship and marketing.

Sales Technologies manages the U.S. sales and distribution of Krakauer and Conn pianos for their manufacturer, Artfield Piano Ltd. of Hong Kong.

BRUNO NEW KORG MARKETING SPECIALIST

Emphasizing a long-standing commitment to dealer support, Korg U.S.A., exclusive distributor for Korg, Marshall and Vox, has augmented its sales staff with a new position. Gary Bruno has been named marketing/product specialist, a unique position designed specifically to assist dealers with the promotion, presentation, and sales of Korg U.S.A.'s product lines.

Bruno will work with Korg's dealer network in the areas of merchandising, marketing, and sales. He will provide product training to dealers on a regular basis and introduce proven sales techniques for retail personnel. He is an accomplished musician and experienced veteran of the music retail community, and he was most recently with Jim's Music Center in Irvine, California.

Joe Bredau, vice-president of sales and marketing, stated, "With the addition of a marketing/product specialist to our staff, we're now ready to take our dealer support program to the next level."

WOOTEN HEADS YAMAHA ARTIST SERVICE

Yamaha Corporation of America has named Jim Wooten as the new director of Yamaha Artist Services (YAS) in New York. Wooten has been a piano technician and keyboard administrator for the New York Metropolitan Opera Association since 1974.

Well known among artists and performing arts organizations throughout the U.S., Wooten grew up in Greenwood, Mississippi, where his professional career grew seamlessly from days when he was a boy providing assistance to his piano technician father.

He earned a bachelor of music degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1973, and pursued additional non-degree studies at the Juilliard School in New York, the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, North Carolina, and the Meadowmount School of Music in upstate New York.

Yamaha also promoted Susan Davies Muhler, a ten-year veteran of YAS, from YAS national coordinator to YAS artist services manager, with expanded duties corresponding to her new role.

Muhler, a native of Delavan, Wisconsin, who now resides in Freehold, New Jersey, has been responsible for coordinating the scheduling, moving, servicing, and return of pianos loaned by YAS.

BENSON HEADS HARMAN MARKETING

Robert Benson has been named vice-president of marketing and sales for Harman Music Group (HMG). For the past seven years he has held several senior management positions at Sony Recording Media.

Robert Urry, HMG president, announced the appointment and commented, "I am very pleased that Robert has accepted this position. I look forward to his contributions as well as his energy and passion for our industry. He will work closely with all functional areas of the organization to ensure that we maximize sales and marketing efforts for all five of our brands."

Benson stated, "Working with Harman Music Group is, without a doubt, a most exciting opportunity. I eagerly anticipate the challenges and responsibilities that accompany this position." Benson holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Massachusetts.

AKG REALIGNS SALES INFRASTRUCTURE

AKG ACOUSTICS has announced the restructuring of its United States sales and support organizations to reflect a geographic distribution of resources, The restructuring comes at a time when AKG Acoustics is experiencing unprecedented sales growth.

Doug MacCallum, vice-president and general manager, announced several key promotions within AKG's Nashville staff. Kevin Madden, formerly market development manager for installed sound, has been promoted to Eastern regional sales manager; Tom Stotler, formerly market development manager for tour sound, has been promoted to Central regional sales manager; and Doug Kittle, formerly market development manager for broadcast and studio sound, has been promoted to Western regional sales manager.

In addition, MacCallum announced the appointment of Cindy Carroll, Sara Anderson, and Christi Heard as sales administrators for the Eastern, Central. and Western markets, respectively.
